Parthenia Satterwhite was one of the first girls I met when we moved from Charleston to Columbia, in the mid-1960s. The friendship and growth we shared during that time remain deeply meaningful to this very day.

Though she is now flying high, I look forward to catching up with her one day to reflect on the laughter, the lessons, and the moments we cherished in our youth.
Parthenia, I know that you are cherished.
To her family, may the peace of God’s dove comfort and sustain you during this time of bereavement.

  28. From the Smiling Family to the Satterwhite Family-Our Deepest Condolences! She was the “Gentle Giant” in this Lower Richland Community. When my family and I moved to Columbia in 1997, I began teaching at Horrell Hill Elementary not ever having met Ms. Satterwhite in person. I had to step away for family a couple of years later but in between and after 3 more children who all became Eagles, I returned to the Hill in 2007. I am so thankful that God allowed her to touch each of our lives! She was not just my boss twice in a decade imparting knowledge and expertise in her profession, but she was also a friend and an encourager (I’m remembering the brief conversation I had with her a couple of weeks ago and this past summer). She was just like family to us. She gave all to the Lower Richland Community and no one can’t measure how much of all she gave. Although our hearts are heavy, I am comforted knowing that she is in a better place! I can praise God for her life as I lean on the Lord as my strength. From our heart to yours, Psalms 46:1
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” And “Only one life will twill soon be past, only what’s done for Christ will last.” taken from the poem by C.T. Studd. ❤️ and 🙏🏾

Thinking of you family, , at a time such as this as your beloved Parthenia transitioned from this earthly dwelling to eternal rest with a loving Savior.

Our paths crossed regularly as educators over the many years that we were active in the Profession.

My knowledge of her administrative skills as one of RCSD one’s stellar Elementary Principals, was that she was impeccable and laced with kindness, care and love for her staff & certainly her young charges entrusted to her by parents .

While our paths crossed only on a professional level, I would say that we were indeed friends throughout the years of
    our careers.
Always a pleasant and congenial young lady, I found her easy to share with as we analysed and dissected our theories about the children that we worked with and how to best educate them at the place where they were when we first encountered them.

Her school, Horrell Hill Elem. was the place where I last encountered her as that positive, pleasant & oh so Professional Administrator.

She will be remembered by all who admired , respected and
benefitted from her educational and professional wisdom.

To God be the Glory for sharing her with us on this earthly journey.
She has now entered the realms of glory for her deserved rest from her labor
    with her Lord and Savior!

She Moved Out To Move In!

In halls of memory, a time we see,
    Columbia’s sun, and Wesley’s ministry.
A fellowship of families, pure and bright,
Sharing holiday meals in God’s own light.
Though seasons turned and years have passed since then,
The warmth of Satterwhite grace returns again.

A friend of youth, with spirit kind and true,
A Christian heart in all you’d say and do.
Your family’s faith, a strong and steady guide,
    With sincerity planted deep inside.
A joy it was to watch your journey’s flight,
To see your works become a shining light.

And now the chapter of this earth is closed,
A gentle peace in Heaven is reposed.
No sorrow in this final, sweet release,
Just angel hymns that whisper of the Divine’s peace.
The Lord has called a faithful servant near,
To cast away all sorrow, doubt, and fear.

An angel has returned to God’s embrace,
    Illuminated by eternal grace.
Your time on earth, a gift for all to see,
Now resting in the home you were meant to be.
We are so grateful for the life you shared,
A beautiful soul, forever loved and cared.
