  4. Sister Goodwin will be deeply missed. I remember being a young child when my dad worked at UPS and Sister Goodwin was at the Post Office. One conversation about the Word of God was all it took for our families to become united as one. We shared many Bible studies and cherished times together at church.
She was an incredible baker—truly could bake up a storm. I vividly recall asking her to bake me a cake for my graduation: I said, “Sister Goodwin, can you make the cake with the nuts?” She replied, “What cake with the nuts?” and then proceeded to list each cake with perfect pronunciation. Her diction was always so refined and graceful. After she finished listing all the options, I simply said, “Pick one” (smile)—and I absolutely loved it. She was truly a beautiful Woman of God.
Sister Goodwin had a true thirst for knowledge. She was quick to correct you if you missed a word in a song. By the time choir rehearsal ended, you’d have the right words, the timing, and clear direction under her leadership . She wasn’t shy about pointing out mistakes, but it always came from a place of care and compassion.
She was generous and made sure I always felt like one of her own children in her home. My heart goes out to Mrs. Elaine and the entire Family during this time.
