Tribute to Tara
I met Tara when I was a freshman at Livingstone College, and from the very beginning she was one of the kindest spirits I encountered. She always had a smile on her faceโone of those smiles that made you feel welcome, seen, and part of something bigger.
Iโll never forget the day I was walking through the dorm and Tara stopped me. She asked if I would go to the store for her and her friends. When I stepped into that room, it was full of upperclassmenโLinda, Marcelle, Blondell, and Cathy. They handed me their money and trusted me, a freshman, to bring back exactly what they needed along with their change. That moment has stayed with me all these years because it showed the kind of community Livingstone College was. We were family. And Tara was one of the people who made it feel that way.
Her presence at homecoming will truly be missed. The laughter, the memories, the way she lit up a roomโthose things can never be replaced. But I take comfort in knowing sheโs in a better place, resting peacefully.
RIH, Tara. Your kindness lives on in every person you touched.
Claysie

To Annette,
This one really hit hard although Tara told me that she was tired and wasnโt afraid, I accepted her decision but deep inside I selfishly didnโt want her to leave us. On one of my visits she asked me to lay in bed with her and eat watermelon, we had a deep personal conversation that I will forever remember.
Throughout my travels around the world we always stayed connected, we met in 3rd grade a friendship that was unbreakable, Heaven has truly gained a sweet Angel.
My deepest condolences to the family. My sister friend will remain in my heart forever.
Tyra was a friend co-worker and a beautiful person. Condolences to her family.

To the family of one of my most memorable students, Ms. Tara Jean Sattrefield:
My reflections of one who was high spirited, happy go lucky and always full of good humor, is the Tara Jean I remember having as a freshman and during her junior year at CAJ.
She was unforgettable because she always kept me and the class laughing about some of her antics. But one mantra I remember her sharing on occasion was , “when I grow up, I want to be like you”!
We often hear that from some of our students , not realizing what it is they “see ” or what it is they want to emulate.
So my response has often been,
“you, my dear” should be the best that the Master has planned for ‘You”!!
I believe that inspite of it all, that”s what Tara Jean did as she was that funny, fun-
loving young woman that put her trust in the God she served and became her own, better person who impacted others so positively along her journey in so many ways.
She was ” cute and funny” , as I remember and as she now departs this life to her heavenly reward with a loving Saviour, we will miss her from our midst!
To the large conclave of family members she departs from, I also share in your grief, but know that she is alright now in the arms of a Loving Savior, who she knew and served as one of His children.
To God be the glory for the things He has done.
I met Tara in 1979 on the Livingstone College Campus. She was always a sweetheart and caring person. I consider her a friend. Through the years and maturity we learned alot about each other. The last thing we did together was the class of 83 memorial at our 40th class reunion I remember us trying to get on a float how we laughed and laughed because we struggled to get on. The memories are precious of a precious person. To the family my condolences and may God give you all the strength you need at this difficult time. May you rest easy in his arms my friend.
I will always remember the memories and the times we shared working together at the bank. Tara was a lovely, kind young lady. A very good friend.
Our dearest Tara Jean,
While our hearts ache in your absence, we are grateful for the time we were blessed to have with you. The memories we created together will remain forever etched in our hearts and will continue to bring us comfort in the days ahead.
From laughter-filled family gatherings to the simple moments that brought us closer, your presence added joy, warmth, and love to our lives. We will always remember your kindness, your smile, and the special way you made everyone around you feel valued and loved.
Rest peacefully, Tara Jean. You will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever a part of our familyโs story.
Love your cousins, Jerry, Chris, Tawana, LaTonya, Jazmine, Malik and Cierra

To my childhood friend, classmate and church family. I don’t even know how to started, just know your presence will truly be miss. You always called us twin but lady you were so beautiful inside and out. I’m so happy we talked and text before you went to be with the Lord. You joined the Hospitality Ministry under me and I was so honored . We were also on the Women’s Ministry together. Your faith and working for the Lord was real. I will always love and remember you. Get your rest until we meet again. Love you,Tara my twin.
My condolences to the family of Tara Satterfield. Our journey began in 1979 on the campus of Livingstone College. I rejoice in your life and how you impacted me greatly in so many ways. Take your rest and know that your journey here is done and now eternity is your home. I will forever hold you in my heart.
Tara right now all I feel is total devastation of the loss of you but then again I know this was the end of the journey you said to me in our last conversation that you didn’t come here to stay this was just a stop along the way, and that the ultimate goal was to make it to the presence of the king of Kings and you just didn’t want to touch the heem of his garment you wanted to see him face to face. So now that the goal has been reached just know my heart breaks and words can’t convey the measure of this loss but I will hold on to the memories because they are priceless and they will carry me through until I see you again so to a life well lived and a race well run Tara the battles over and the victory you’ve won. Family you’re in my constant prayers during this difficult time may God keep you all in his embrace

Sending my deepest condolences to the Satterfield, Wilson, Johnson, McCoy, and Smith families. I been knowing Tara over 60 years. We attended Carver and WA Perry school together. I can remember when we were joining the Brownies and Girl Scouts. Tara has always been a life full of fun, always had that baby talk that smeared her laughter. I’m sure she’s going to be missed by many. Fly away, Angel, for God has picked his flower.
Today when I receive the word that you had left us here on Earth my heart was saddened yet I began to feel comfort in knowing that you’re suffering had ended and you will not have to endure any more pains I wished I had time to spend with you more but that’s my selfishness I know but through it all I’m thankful that God allowed you to be in my life for the moments that we shared as we laugh to talk together over the phone and even as we celebrated together here on campus each time was a rewarding experience for me and one that I shall never forget I’m praying for your family and praying for our friends of the Livingstone college LC bears who also bear this loss as well as I that we can find strengthen each other and continue to keep you in our hearts and our memory in the days ahead as we know that we will have many days we will think on your presence and wish that you were here with us may God bless us as we try to stand together through this difficult time
