  18. To Henrietta and the Samuel family, this is hard. My village is being decimated. I can see all of us during our growing years, home, school and church. Hayes was a wonderful person who it will take time to get use to not seeing him, on this side.
Just stay strong family, you know who is in charge and who will be with you during this tough time.

  22. I’m saddened to hear of the passing of Mr. Hayes. He was someone I could always count on to support the youth at Emmanuel. He was a gentle and kind person at all times. I can remember my daughter Alexis telling him she wanted to buy me a Christmas gift but didn’t have any money. Mr. Hayes reached in his pocket and gave her the money. He was just that kind of person. Whatever I wanted to do with the youth, he was our number one supporter. Last month my daughter asked me to call him, she wanted to talk to him. I explained his situation and she said she would pray for him. She wanted him to know that she was doing great in Michigan. Rest on my friend. You are a hard act to follow. Your heart was always in the right place. Prayers for the Samuel family.

  23. My deepest condolences to the family of Hayes Samuel. I’ve known him and the Samuel family since I was a child, growing up in Emmanuel A.M.E. Church. At one point the Samuels lived next to us. My dear mother, Daisy Thompson, told me about a day when Hayes and a friend of his were fixing lunch. Mother said she looked out on the porch steps and there I was, happily eating a sandwich he had fixed for me too! We always laughed about his looking out for me back in the day. Hayes was a kind Godly man, with a great sense of humor. He was a faithful, active member of Emmanuel all of his life, and will be greatly missed. Rest in peace my friend.
